GRAIN ROT Wiki

Grain Rot Demo Status, Dates and Steam App ID

The Grain Rot demo used Steam App ID 4731790 and was announced to end July 12, 2026. The full Windows Steam game released separately on August 7.

Updated:

The GRAIN ROT demo is no longer confirmed as playable. It used Steam App ID 4731790, released on June 12, 2026, and an official announcement said its extended access would end July 12 at 11:59 p.m. EST. The separate full game launched on August 7 under App ID 4450620.

Demo Release and End

The demo appeared around Steam Next Fest and had its availability extended. The collected announcement then gave a July 12 end date and time. That dated notice is stronger evidence than a store page that remains indexed afterward.

A past demo release date does not establish permanent access. Steam may preserve community pages, library records, or store metadata even when the executable is no longer distributed. Current playability is therefore not inferred from page visibility alone.

Use the Correct App ID

The demo uses 4731790. The full released game uses 4450620. These separate identifiers matter when checking installation files, licenses, shortcuts, or support posts.

If Steam is trying to launch the demo entry, it is not automatically launching the purchased full game. Confirm the App ID and library title before reinstalling anything. Advice for the ended demo may not apply to the release build.

What the Demo Represented

The demo presented an earlier sample of the game's Living Spark, vessel, ruins, salvage, and Outpost concepts. Archived official material contains additional demo-specific descriptions, but the exact contents should not be assumed to match the full release. Patches and launch changes can alter options, controls, balance, and available content.

This page does not repeat unsupported counts for enemies, constructs, biomes, or downloads. Even when a number appears on an archived page, it needs a direct dated official context before being used as a current full-game fact. Demo scope and release scope should remain separate.

Full Game Availability

The full Windows PC game released through Steam on August 7, 2026. It supports single-player and online co-op and has its own store license and price. On August 10, the US listing showed a $9.99 base price with a temporary launch discount.

That dated US price is not a demo cost or a permanent global total. Regional pricing, tax, bundles, and later sales may differ. Check the live full-game store page for current purchase information.

Demo Progress Carryover

The collected official sources do not confirm whether demo progress transfers to the full game. Do not move or edit save files based on an unsupported claim. Backup any local data before testing a manually discovered migration.

If the current game detects demo data, follow its live prompt or official instructions. Otherwise, treat carryover as to be confirmed. A community workaround may be version-specific and can risk the release save.

If the Demo Page Is Still Visible

A visible store or community page can remain useful for announcements and historical discussion. It does not guarantee an Install button, an active license, or continued server access. Check the Steam client rather than a search snippet.

Do not download a replacement demo executable from an unaffiliated site. The official Steam record is the safe distribution reference. Unknown installers or modified files introduce security and save risks.

Verification Status

When comparing demo footage with the release, identify the recording date and build whenever possible. A mechanic shown in both may still have different controls, balance, or content at launch. Only a current official statement should turn a demo-specific detail into a release-wide fact.

The same caution applies to download totals and content counts. A dated archived announcement can describe the demo at that moment, but it does not automatically describe the full game. This page therefore keeps narrow historical facts separate from current gameplay claims.

That separation also keeps support steps accurate. Demo and release files can differ even when the central premise is shared. Check the product ID before applying any fix.

Confirmed: demo App ID 4731790, June 12 release, announced July 12 end, and a separate full game under App ID 4450620 released August 7. These dates reflect the collected official records. The demo's current availability should be treated as ended unless Steam or the developer announces otherwise.

To be confirmed: a future reopened demo, exact current demo contents, progress carryover, and compatibility with the release build. This page was verified on August 10, 2026. Later official announcements can change the status.
